That stupid Damn Daniel meme better not still be going around, because it’s a work day for me and I’m sporting these Vans Authentic Flamingo.
This is a Van Doren release which means it’s a throwback to the old style of Authentics with the print. The inspiration on this pair of flamingo kicks is obvious (unlike the Nike SB Dunk version). Other than the print, what we essentially have is a basic pair of Authentics.
These have the typical canvas upper found on most pairs of Authentics. This is pretty standard for this shoe and of course the canvas is good quality for casual wear. I’m not sure how long these would hold up skating, but for just rocking to the office, the materials are more than acceptable. The build on these seems solid enough… other than that, not a lot to say about the materials.
Authentics fit true to size and are very comfortable if not overly simple, and these Vans Authentic Flamingo are no exception. I’ve found that now that I’m used to wearing Authentics and Eras a bunch, I’m not getting the heel rub that I used to get. Which is great, because I was getting sick of buying bandaids for my ankles all the time!
